Great food is what great people deserve and there is no one better to provide your meals, with Barb's skill in the kitchen being legendary, than Barb herself!
The large, private rooms from the Guest entrance, have a full service ensuite. Our truly comfy king beds and fine quality mattresses and linen, will ensure a great night's rest and then, in the morning, breakfast of your own choosing will be available upon your request.
Barb's Place itself is set in a large rural-type location, where your Hosts have created their own piece of self-contentment! Their very own 'Slice of Heaven'.
Barb's self-designed herb garden enables and ensures that delicious and fantastic flavours are always available, adding to her already superior, culinary delights.
Geoff grows the majority of the veggies provided...potatoes, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, lettuce...to name a few! The typical NZ vegetable fare is on offer throughout the Summer months, then a wide range of Winter crops follow. On the odd occasion when outside demands from Barb's Kitchen out-strip supply, produce will be sourced from other local growers.
They also have their own hens, so all eggs are guaranteed fresh! Our Guests are invited to collect their own breakfast eggs themselves, if they would like to...then have them cooked for them, any which way they desire! You just can’t get any fresher than that!

On your first night in Waipara...
Arrive early evening and settle into your own private boudoir! Then join us for a BBQ style dinner, followed by relaxed conversation and wine, while sitting around the wood fired brazier!
The next day...
Get up, or sleep in? Whatever you choose! Once up, enjoy a home cooked or continental style breakfast, with fresh espresso coffee or our variety of teas' provided. In your own time, we will take you to a local boutique winery, for a pre-arranged personal tour and explanation of the Industry. This will be followed by a Tasting and the opportunity to even purchase a bottle or two! From there, if you choose to, we will drop you at one of the many wineries close to Barb's Place that are open for refreshments or light meals (your cost) and return to pick you up, when requested. In the early evening, join us for pre-dinner drinks, before sitting down to a sumptuous, Kiwi Style meal, lovingly prepared by Barb right here in her kitchen. Be prepared for a fabulously relaxed evening, enjoying our food and our company, and perhaps even some of the afore mentioned wine purchased earlier in the day!
Your second morning... Same as yesterday! We have no set checkout time, so depart for home whenever you are ready, after our Brunch Service, which will be cooked whenever you are up and request it!
